Tonight's Rumble starts off tonight with Ric Flair going against MVP from Smackdown. Will this be the career ending match that everyone has been talking about for weeks now? What better place to have to retire than Madison Square Garden! Ric makes a nice statement about his memories in Madison Square Garden. His first match at the Garden was in March of 1976! (He's been wrestling longer than I've been alive!) Amazing. MVP interrupts Ric's speech and comes out attitude and all. They lock up and MVP shoulders Ric to the floor with a flourish. A second lockup engages and the ref has to break it up. Ric gets the left arm of MVP behind him and starts to inflict the pain. Chops from Flair keep MVP on his toes. A huge boot to the head by MVP gets him the upper hand in this match. Flair manages to kick out of a cross body count. Ric already looks tired. The crowd is chanting and trying to rally Flair back into this match up. A high elbow buys Flair some time and he tries to get the figure four leg lock, but MVP avoids it. Flair tries again, but MVP rolls him up a second time. Back on their feet these men continue this explosive match up. Another huge boot right to the face of Flair almost wins the match for MVP but Flair gets his boot to the rope. The three count was reversed by the ref. Now it's a war of near falls as these two men try to get the count on the other man. A superplex by MVP lands Flair on his back again, but the Nature Boy keeps kicking out and fighting back. Flair gets a quick roll up on MVP, then a backslide, but to no avail MVP gets out of both attempts at a three count! A barrage of chops hit MVP as Flair fires up. MVP goes for the play maker, but Flair gets the figure four leg lock and MVP taps out like a chick! Flair wins it and lives to fight another day!! Congratulations Nature Boy!!! A standing ovation from the fans gives Flair some much needed inspiration!
Mr. McMahon is talking backstage to Hornswaggle. Mr. McMahon is trying to motivate and fire up Hornswaggle about his participation in the Rumble. "I expect you to win, after all you are my son!" Vince says. Mr. McMahon tries to tell Hornswaggle not to trust anyone, not even Finlay! It's every man for himself tonight and the lessons in tough love will continue!
Chris Jericho makes his way to the ring for his battle tonight against JBL. It's all personal and this is going to be a huge match tonight! JBL comes out and ready to bring the fight to Jericho. JBL uses the ropes for security as Jericho goes after him right off the back. JBL fights back momentarily but Jericho fights back just as hard. You just can't bring someone's kids into the picture and not expect some anger issues. Jericho locks the Walls of Jericho in early but JBL gets to the ropes and the ref has to break the hold. Jericho gets JBL out of the ring and is throwing him around on the outside. JBL meets the steel steps shoulder first, ouch! Jericho takes it back to the ring to stop the three count. JBL tosses Jericho into the top rope and Jericho gets caught in it by his throat. JBL continues to capitalize on the injured throat of Jericho. Huge clotheslines barrage Jericho as he chokes and gags after each strike. He could be in a bad way here tonight folks! JBL is relentless and continues his attacks like a viper, fast and quick! JBL gets a sleeper hold on Jericho trying to continue to weaken his opponent. Jericho fights back to his vertical position and knocks JBL off his feet with a clothesline, snapping JBL's head back. That small reprieve doesn't last long as JBL gets to his feet and keeps on fighting. Jericho gets thrown into the steel ring post and his head is busted open. JBL keeps going and attacks like a shark on the bleeding Jericho. Boots to the face keep Jericho off his feet and not able to get the upper hand on JBL. Jericho fights back and takes JBL down. Jericho fights JBL right out of the ring again and as JBL starts to take the announcer's table apart, Jericho gets a huge chair shot to JBL's head. Jericho doesn't let up, despite the fact that the match is over due to disqualification. Jericho gets the TV cable and gets it wrapped around JBL's neck. Turn about is fair play at this point. Jericho tightens the cable and JBL starts to turn colors unnatural to humans. Has Jericho seen justice, or is this just the beginning of a bitter rivalry?
Santino Marella and Ashley are backstage having words about whether or not Maria wants anything to do with Ashley. Santino insults Ashley and slams the door in her face as he goes back into Maria's dressing room. Rudeness never gets you anywhere, and I'm sure Ashley won't stand for it either!
Edge makes his way to the ring for his match against Rey Mysterio for the World Championship. Vicki Guererro the GM of Smackdown comes to ringside as well as Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins Edge's goons to support the champ tonight. Rey makes his way to the ring wearing a Gladiator mask over his Luchador mask. I'm sure that's to make a statement, Mysterio has overcome great odds before to be victorious and I'm sure he'll do it again tonight! The odds are against Mysterio tonight as there could potentially be two other men involved in this match up. Edge always has back up, that's because he can't win it on his own anymore he has to have help. So sad, he used to be such an awesome wrestler too. I'm rooting for Mysterio for more than one reason tonight! Edge gets Mysterio out of the ring and Hawkins and Ryder try to hurt Mysterio. The ref ejects them from the arena, leaving Edge on his own. Mysterio flies high and takes Edge to his back outside the ring. Edge kicks out of a quick pin by Mysterio. Edge gets a kick to the knee of Mysterio buying himself some time while Mysterio limps out of the ring. Edge goes after Mysterio and tosses him back into the ring. Edge definitely has the upper hand now! Edge stomps the knee of Mysterio but Mysterio refuses to give up. Edge gets a hold on Mysterio's leg and Mysterio screams out in pain as Edge puts more and more pressure on it. Mysterio can't even get fully to his feet, but yet lands Edge in the 619 position anyway! Edge gets Mysterio down again and goes for the count, but Mysterio gets his shoulders up just in time. Edge goes right back to that surgically repaired knee of Mysterio never letting up for long. Mysterio gets some kicks to Edge's head and crawls away. Mysterio cannot stand any longer, but yet he keeps fighting. Edge is trying to expose the knee of Mysterio. Mysterio gets a bulldog and buys himself some time as Edge is down for the count. Mysterio gets a roll through and boots Edge in the face for yet another attempt at a three count. No win yet, Edge powers back out of it. Mysterio gets Edge down again and the three count is narrowly avoided yet again. How much longer will Edge's luck continue through this match? Mysterio goes up top and lands on Edge's gut feet first. No three count. Mysterio gets the hurricarana and gets Edge outside the ring. Edge is down and the count begins. Mysterio puts Edge back into the ring and Edge gets his shoulder's up yet again. Edge lines up for the spear and gets another hurricarana for his efforts. Mysterio almost wins this match but it's interrupted by Vicki Guererro. I'm so pissed. Mysterio 619's both Edge and Vickie, but yet loses this match anyway. Edge gets a huge spear on Mysterio from midair as Mysterio goes up top trying to win this match up. Once again the rated R superstar cheats his way out of another match up. Still champ he helps Vicki back into her wheelchair. How disappointing. I really dislike Edge at this point, he has not redeemed himself in my eyes at all! I'm sure Mysterio will have his time soon!
Mr. Kennedy is backstage to congratulate Flair on his win tonight. Mr. Kennedy is so convinced that he will win the Rumble tonight that he begins to challenge Flair to another match up, but then is interrupted by Shawn Michaels. Shawn makes a comment about Kennedy being a "loud mouth, platinum haired, catch phrase having young kid" (sounds a lot like Flair doesn't it?) Triple H and Batista join these two backstage for more funny stuff and Shawn promotes his new T-shirt! It's cute and a nice break from all the drama of matches.
Maria comes out for the first edition of the Kiss cam in HD. This is hilarious! Ashley makes her way to the ring. Playboy is interested in Maria being the next centerfold. Santino comes out and ruins the conversation. "The answer is NO!" says Marella. No one wants to see Maria with no clothes on he thinks. How rude. Someone needs to shut him up, he begins insulting NY's sports teams. (Bad idea!). Ashley stands up to him and stops him from leaving the ring with Maria. "This decision is for Maria to make, do you want to do Playboy?" Maria asks the crowd if they want to see her in playboy, and the crowd goes wild. The big fat white guy is unveiled by Santino since everyone likes to see boobies, and Ashley beats him out of the ring with rubber chickens. How silly! Looks like Maria will be posing for Playboy in the future, I can't wait.
Jeff Hardy makes way to the ring for his match up with Randy Orton tonight for the WWE championship! When Jeff wins he'll be the in the elite club of superstars who have held both the Intercontinental and WWE championships at the same time! Orton comes out cautiously eyeing Hardy intensely. This match gets underway and the lock up takes place. These men roll around the ring ropes never once breaking the hold. Finally the ref breaks the lock up and Jeff gets started on his assault. The two roll around on the floor for a moment. Orton gets his legs wrapped around Jeff's head and neck and turns it into a head scissor. Hardy gets and inverted atomic drop and a baseball slide to get a two count on the champ. Orton battles back though with everything to lose in the match up if he's careless. A huge clothesline takes Orton to the outside and Jeff baseball slides right into Orton. Snapping Orton's neck back into the retaining wall. Jeff has to get Orton back into the ring because he cannot win by a count out. Orton grabs the belt and tries to leave, but Hardy doesn't allow that. Hardy goes to the ring apron for a high fly but Orton drop kicks him right back to the outside of the ring. Orton suplexes Jeff on the floor outside the ring, then rolls Hardy back inside. Orton starts to capitalize and dominate this match. Hardy unable to even get to his feet at this point. Orton starts choking Hardy but the ref cuts that off. Hardy finally starts to battle back and tosses Orton out of the ring again. Hardy goes to the apron and leaps right onto Orton, taking both men to the ground. Hardy rolls Orton back into the ring to stop the count. Hardy runs for Orton but Orton ducks and Hardy gets stuck in the ropes shoulder first into the ring post. Orton then gets a grapevine on Hardy trying to weaken the rainbow haired warrior even more. Jeff will not relent. He makes it to his feet and battles back to get himself back into this match. A huge powerslam takes Jeff back to the mat and gets another upper hand for Orton. Jeff takes Orton to the mat neither man getting up very quickly! Orton is to his feet first. Jeff powers back and takes Orton down quickly three times. A whisper in the wind finds Orton unaware but Orton kicks out of it barely. Both feet to the sternum of Orton in the corner and Jeff goes up top for the swanton bomb, but Orton rolls out of the ring. Jeff takes him out anyway and they are on the outside yet again. Jeff goes up top and a moonsault lands right on top of Orton. Jeff is getting to his feet first. Hardy rallies the crowd in his name and sizes up Orton. He attempts a twist of fate on Randy, who faster than I could even see turns it around into an RKO and wins this match retaining his championships. I'm in total shock! I totally thought Jeff had this one hands down! I'm so upset. Jeff was robbed!
The royal rumble match gets underway with the legendary "Let's get ready to RUUUUUUMMMMBLE!!!!!!" The deadman is first in tonight, Undertaker! If anyone can win from #1 it'll be the Undertaker. Shawn Michaels in the next in at #2 tonight! These two men kick off the Rumble and in 90 seconds we'll add another competitor. Undertaker is beating Shawn like a government mule tonight. #3 in is Santino Marella. I hope Undertaker breaks him in half. Sweet chin music finds Santino unaware and Undertaker tosses Marella out. Bye bye Santino. Old school Undertaker misses as Shawn takes Undertaker off his feet. #4 is The Great Khali. Undertaker lines up to take on the Punjabi giant. Khali manhandles Undertaker like he weighs nothing. Shawn takes this time to rest up in the opposite corner. Khali gets a choke hold on Undertaker and Undertaker gets a choke hold on Khali. Undertaker tosses Khali out! #5 is Hardcore Holly. He runs into the ring with gusto and takes on both men with speed and viciousness. As Holly batters Undertaker, Shawn rests up again. Shawn tries to get Undertaker over the tope and Undertaker reverses and dangles Shawn over the ropes instead. #6 is John Morrison from ECW. Everyone beats on Morrison for the moment. Hardcore Holly is still in the ring too! Shawn goes up top and lands an elbow right on Morrison. Undertaker is working over Holly. #7 is Tommy Dreamer from ECW. A boot from the Undertaker takes the wind out of Dreamer. Michaels fights Undertaker in a corner while the other men go at it. #8 is Batista! It's on now! He faces off and eyes the Undertaker. Dreamer gets eliminated trying to get a one up on Batista. Undertaker pummels Batista in one corner and Michaels and Holly go at it in the other. Morrison is just chilling out. #9 is Hornswaggle. All the men eye Hornswaggle as he slides under the ring. What's that little man got up his sleeve this time? He's a McMahon after all! #10 is Chuck Palumbo from Smackdown. Morrison almost gets tossed out but saves himself before he hits the ground. #11 is Jamie Noble from Smackdown. Noble and Palumbo go at it hard and fast. Jamie Noble is eliminated by Palumbo. Everyone else is still in this match up. #12 is CM Punk from ECW. Undertaker gives Punk a huge clothesline. Wow! Palumbo is eliminated by CM Punk. #13 is Cody Rhodes. (Ok I'm on my feet now!!!! AWESOME!) Piper and Snuka face off as the other men look on in awe, the rumble stops! Wow. #20 is Kane. Piper and Snuka are eliminated by Kane. Undertaker measures up Kane but goes for Shawn Michaels instead. #21 is Carlito. Carlito spits right in the face of Cody Rhodes. #22 is Mick Foley. #23 is Mr. Kennedy. Kennedy goes right to work on Rhodes. #24 is Big Daddy V from ECW. Shawn Michaels eliminates Undertaker and Kennedy eliminates Michaels. Snitsky was eliminated by Undertaker before he was eliminated. #25 is Mark Henry. There are some huge people in this match. The Miz is eliminated by Hornswaggle, who goes right back under the ring. #26 is Chavo Guererro. CM Punk goes right after Chavo after losing his championship to him on Tuesday night on ECW. Kane eliminated John Morrison. Mark Henry grabs Hornswaggle but Finlay comes to Hornswaggle's rescue, but he's not actually "in" the match yet. Finlay and Hornswaggle go backstage, but Hornswaggle never went over the top rope, don't forget that! Finlay was disqualified for not waiting until his turn. #28 is Elijah Burke. Batista is on the outside, was he eliminated? Chavo eliminates CM Punk. Batista went under the bottom rope after a Samoan spike from Umaga. #29 is my man Triple H! Rhodes is eliminated by Triple H. Chavo eliminated by John Cena. Kennedy is eliminated by Batista. Umaga is eliminated by Batista. Kane is eliminated by Triple H and Batista. Cena, Triple H, Batista and Hornswaggle are the only men left in it. "Suck it" starts this battle. Batista is eliminated by Triple H. It's down to Cena and Triple H (is everyone forgetting about Hornswaggle?) The battle continues. Fists are exchanged. A huge slam gets Triple H to the mat and Cena stands tall. U can't see me lands it's mark on Triple H. A pedigree is countered as is an FU. It's amazing! A huge DDT by Triple H gets Cena on his back and might give the upper hand to Triple H. Triple H is eliminated by Cena and CENA WINS IT ALL!!!!! The second man in history to win from #30 (Undertaker was the first man to do it!). It's good to have Cena back that's for sure I can't wait until Monday night to see what is going to transpire for Cena now that he is back! Randy Orton better watch out now cause his security has just been breached! What a great way to end the Rumble!
