I was surfing on WWE today to see if there was anything new going on in the world of wrestling. I was saddened to read the story about the tragedy that occurred on Friday night Smackdown during the wedding ceremony of General Manager Theodore Long and his beloved Kristal.
Apparently Mr. Long suffered from a myocardial infraction with cardio myopathy. (what? In English please?) This condition is said to be brought on by hypertension which was worsened by ingesting Viagra. Wow! I missed the episode of Smackdown so I didn't see this live, but the WWE website provides enough news feeds and video clips to fill in all the blanks.
Mr. Long is currently hospitalized and is semi-comatose. They say that his condition is very serious and that the next few days will be critical for him.
My prayers go out to Kristal and the Long family in their time of need and I hope that Mr. Long will make a full recovery. I know that sometimes the general managers of the shows will do anything for ratings but I'm pretty sure that this was not something that was planned to boost the heat of Friday nights.
